WHY’S EIGHT-YEAR-OLD SHREYA SHARMA THE ADVERTISING INDUSTRY’S

Ahmedabad, August 24: SHE’S just turned down an offer from Ram Gopal Varma — only because it involved interacting with wild animals. Shreya Sharma, once better known as Sneha of Kasautii Zindagi Ki, can sell a can of paint, an insurance policy or even a cuppa chai like no other kid can.

The newest kid wooing the ad world thinks it's a piece of cake. “She did the HDFC advertisement in half an hour,” boasts her dietician mum Ritu. And right now she has more than half a dozen ads, including HDFC, Clinic Plus, Nirma and Catch Masala, on air.

Father Vikas feels that her quick pick-up is the reason why top agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather and Lowe have zeroed in on her. “I first realised she’s a pro in front of the camera when she took part on the show Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle,” he says, “She was so comfortable reciting poetry and talking to Kher.” Shreya was barely four then.

In fact, Ekta Kapoor bent her golden rule so that she could cast her in her mega soap Kasautii. She worked shooting schedules around Shreya's school time-table. But now, her parents want her to take it easy and would rather she did ads and the odd Bollywood film.

Today she’s dubbing for a shampoo commercial. In a sunny sequinned top and shorts, Shreya looks every bit the adorable kid, who can entice a parent to

buy just about anything off the shelf. The girl’s a whiz behind the mike, and it doesn’t take long to grasp the lines before she mouths them in perfect sync with the images.

“How do I say these lines?” she checks with the recording artistes, “Should I whisper or should it be loud?” She giggles, chirps and sulks, all in one take. Her experience shows.

She’ll soon be seen in a Bollywood film where she plays Ajay Devgan’s daughter. “Ajay uncle’s very nice,” she says of her co-star in Benaam, “We play football and catch catch on the sets.” And like any other kid her age, she’s got her own ‘What I want to be when I grow up’ dream. Not an engineer like her dad, but a teacher. “I want to teach mathematics,” says the Lokhandwala Foundation School student. Doesn’t quite add up.

Baby Shreya simply superb
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, December 28, 2006]
"Adults are obsolete children" writes an American children's writer Dr.Seuss. But anywhere in the globe the intelligent children of today rarely become obsolete as they grow. They cherish the charisma they have occupied. They maintain the zeal to reach the zenith in life.
Look at the lively and intelligent child artiste Baby Shreya Goshal. She is having a rocking time since four and half years working in prestigious advertisements, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. A brilliant and ever smiling wonder kid Baby Shreya gives an account of herself like how she writes the examination in the class room. Her footprints explain clearly she is sure to make it big and better her career.
Studying in 4th standard at Lokandwala Foundation School in Mumbai this cute little kid Shreya started of her career from a television program with Anupam Kher in 'Say Na Something'. The cool and serene looking Shreya has so far acted in 60 advertisements. Top ones among them are Whirlpool (with Kajol and Ajay Devgun), HDFC, Clinic Plus, Colgate, Red Label, Pears Soap etc. She has hardly bunked her classes and not lost her childhood in the process.
In big screen she has appeared in Pradip Sarkar's film with Rani Mukerji, Abhisekh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, in 'Benaam' starring Ajay Devgun she played an important role. Sillun Oru Kadhal she appeared with Surya and Jyothika, in Jai Chiranjeevi starring mega star Chiranjeevi she appears and now in Kannada film 'Soundarya' this wonder kid Shreya plays the daughter of popular actor Ramesh Aravind and Saakshi Shivanand.
Ramesh Aravind the gentleman actor of over 100 Kannada films in his address hailed the ability of baby Shreya at the media briefing of the film 'Soundaraya' on Wednesday at Green House restaurant. 'Every frame she is lively on screen' complimented Ramesh Aravind while producer cum director of 'Soundarya' film Chennagangappa has lauded the time sense and body language of Shreya. It is Shreya and Ramesh Aravind steal the show in the climax of the film 'Soundarya' is the opinion of the film team.
Interested in Chocolates and Ice Creams baby Shreya thought of becoming a teacher according to her mother Mrs Ritu. Shreya checks in suddenly and says I don't want to become a teacher now. Her papa is Mr Vikas an engineer. Highly talented baby Shreya has not given up interest in studies. She always secures A+ grade says Mrs Ritu.
Baby Shreya has won the ITA award for her performance in 'Kasauti Zindagi Ki' and Star Pariwar award in 2004.
